The Kyoto collection was made for The New Craftsmen Gallery in Mayfair.  It takes archetypal forms as starting points - jars, bottles, pots - and invests them with fresh expression. Each piece is made using solid clay which is worked into shape when soft and then hollowed out later.  The pieces are unplanned and evolve organically through deep immersion in the making process.  The graphic pattern is drawn onto the surface and the whole piece is dipped in a white slip, before being fired and finished with cobalt glaze.

The Midori collection was made for The New Craftsmen Gallery in Mayfair and continues the exploratory theme of the Kyoto collection,  extending it with the use of green thread to embellish the finished work. Each piece is made using solid clay which is worked into shape when soft and then hollowed out later.  New surface designs are explored using printed sheets of clay.   The graphic pattern is drawn onto the surface and each piece is dipped in a white slip before being fired and finished with cobalt glaze.

The Kazoku Collection was made in response to my entry for British Ceramics Biennial 2023.  This demanded a change in my making methods, in order to produce larger work.  The body of each piece is made using a plaster mould which faciliated the increase in scale.  The forms are unplanned and develop organically,  with additions made using a variety of techniques:  throwing, carving, modelling and printing. The graphic pattern is drawn onto the surface and each piece is dipped in a white slip before being fired and finished with cobalt glaze.

The Sakura collection comprises the much larger pieces which were selected by Paul Smith to be shown in their flagship store on Albemarle Street in Mayfair.   Each piece takes a traditional pot form as a starting point exploring surfaces and using lids to give character to forms.  The pots are thrown slowly on the wheel using soft clay to give a gentle line, and lids are turned to fit.  Handles are carved from blocks and attached later, and each piece is finished with slips and coloured glazes.

The Bowl collection is inspired by Matisse paper cut-outs and uses stencils to create decorative patterns across each piece.  Bowls are thrown as large open forms to provide a canvas for the arrangement of shapes. The designs extend over the edges of the work, covering the surfaces as if the bowls

were cut out of sheets of printed clay. Each piece is dipped in a white slip before being fired and finished with cobalt glaze.
